Schoolies are in town celebrating their final year of school before holidays and venturing on to University, jobs or apprenticeships. The world of possibility awaits and career decisions are being made. For many it will be the first in perhaps a long line of jobs and a few twists and turns on the career trajectory. It is not just school leavers who are contemplating their future. At this time of the year many people reflect and consider their past successes and achievements and also look toward new opportunity – including a new career or job. ..

Qantas was in the news recently for not allowing Australian singer, Kate Ceberano into their business lounge because she didn’t adhere to the dress code rules. According to their guidelines the wearing of thongs, gym wear, boardshorts, Ugg boots, revealing, unclean and torn clothing are not permitted. The introduction of the dress code last year was so doubt because they airline didn’t want people in their lounges to look like they were in their own lounge room at home or at the beach or local pub. ..

A highlight for me this week was speaking at a leading Brisbane law firm on creating a personal and professional brand. The firm in engaging me to present to their 180 team members realise the importance of everyone reflecting the firm’s values and brand through appearance and presence.
