My office this week was meant to be seaside in Seminyak, Bali. I haven't quite made it yet due to volcanic ash making conditions for flying unsafe. However, I’m still going to enjoy a couple of weeks of rest and rejuvenation and put down a few more thousand words of my next book – due for release early next year. It is also a time for me to just think, contemplate and prepare for the next few months. This holiday is also about readying – I actually meant to write reading – which I also will do – however, I’ll stick with readying as it describes perfectly the next step in my series of Leadership Presence blogs – that is E, which is to EVOLVE.  ..

Oprah – yes she only needs one name – continues to be in the headlines. Namely because here in Australia she has a tour to promote and is a master at gaining media attention. The media coverage is also because she is hugely popular and appeals to readers, viewers and the public at large. Her highly visible personal brand is one of authority and credibility and she is perceived as an influential leader. For you to be seen as a leader by the people in your field or circle of influence it pays to distinguish yourself through your clear personal brand. “What would Donald do?” That is a question asked by Wil Anderson, ABC TV’s Gruen host, each week as an introduction to a comedy send-up of US real estate tycoon and Republican Party Presidential hopeful, Donald Trump. “Does Donald act like a leader?” is really the question. His erratic outspoken behaviour seems to suggest otherwise. That is why he is the brunt of many jokes and comedy sketches. Democratic Party front-runner Hillary Clinton on the other hand displays more self-control and poise as a potential leader of the free world. ..
